5 Summer Home Security tips

Now that summer is finally here (and there’s a bit of a heatwave on the cards, apparently), you’re sure to want to spend as much time as you can outside… which is wonderful and fun for all the family, but you must remember to be vigilant where home security is concerned at this time of year… particularly given the fact that heatwaves seem to have a link to an increase in crime! When out in the garden, make sure that all windows in vacant rooms are locked. A lot of burglaries are carried out by opportunistic thieves who spot an easy way to enter someone’s home - and you may not be aware of this if you’re out and about in the garden. So just make sure you’re careful in this regard. When the day is done, also make sure that you put everything away outside so it’s secure and locked up tight for the night. These days, there are all sorts of expensive items in the garden area that could prove attractive to thieves so do yourself a favour and lock them up just to be on the safe side. And if you’re going off on a jolly summer holiday, make sure you have motion-activated lights installed so people think you’re at home. Ask a neighbour to look after the property if you’re especially concerned and don’t post any holiday photos on social media sites, as this is an indication to anyone who’s watching that you’re not at home.
